One of the cool features of Apple’s Mac Operating system is the Dock. It is used to launch applications and also switch between running applications. Linux communites like to adopt the good from other operating systems and there are several Docks available for Linux as well.

After giving Ubuntu a try for more than 2 months, was I able to achieve my goal? A short answer is no. I eventually reverted to Windows XP. Let’s have a look why with more details.

Installing ubuntu or anything on HP mini note is not going to be a problem since I bought an external DVD R/W drive along with mini. Even if you don’t have one you can still install Ubuntu (or technically any GNU/Linux distro) with pendrive Linux, or some other way.

At a very early stage in the installation of the Ubuntu8.04 desktop I encountered some perplexing failures in the mount command and in my attempted alteration of the fstab file. Commands that had worked in Ubuntu's earlier LTS desktop failed both on the command line and when the file itself was executed.
